Terms and conditions

Services

These Terms apply to all bookings and services provided by Saddle Up. By booking, paying, signing the waiver or participating, you agree to these Terms.

Saddle Up currently provides guided or supervised horse riding experiences, and horse hire for approved photography or filming. Photoshoot hire does not automatically include permission to ride.

Booking acceptance

A booking is confirmed only once Saddle Up has confirmed availability, the required EFT payment and proof of payment have been received, and the customer has accepted the applicable terms, waiver and safety requirements.

Customer information and safety

You must provide accurate name, contact, age, weight, experience, medical and emergency contact information. The standard minimum riding age is 15. Riders 10–14 require sufficient experience. The standard maximum rider weight is 100 kg unless a lower horse-specific limit applies.

Appropriate clothing and a helmet are mandatory. A safety briefing is compulsory. Saddle Up may terminate an activity for dangerous behaviour, intoxication, refusal of equipment, inaccurate information, insufficient ability, horse welfare or unsafe weather.

Inherent risks

Horse riding involves large, powerful and unpredictable animals. Risks include falling, being thrown, kicked, bitten or stepped on, a horse spooking or bolting, tack failure, terrain and weather hazards, the actions of other riders, serious injury, permanent disability and death.

To the extent permitted by South African law, Saddle Up is not responsible for loss arising from an inherent risk or from the customer’s own actions, inaccurate disclosure or failure to follow instructions. Nothing excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

Photoshoots

Horse hire for photography or filming requires prior approval and details of date, duration, location, people, intended use, props, equipment, lighting, vehicles, animals and whether riding is proposed.

The horse remains under Saddle Up’s control. Flash, loud noises, props and unauthorised handling may be restricted. The horse may be removed at any time for welfare or safety. Riding during a photoshoot is prohibited unless approved in writing, with all riding requirements and the waiver completed.

Cancellations, belongings and law

Customer and weather cancellations are governed by the Booking & Cancellation Policy. Arrive at least 30 minutes before a riding activity. Customers are responsible for personal belongings.

Saddle Up may photograph activities for marketing only with appropriate consent. Personal information is handled in accordance with South African privacy legislation and our privacy notice.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.
