Liability and risk acknowledgement

Important notice

Horse riding is a physical activity involving large, powerful and unpredictable animals. Participation carries inherent risks, including the possibility of serious injury, permanent disability and death.

Acknowledgement of risk

I understand that a horse may spook, buck, rear, bolt, kick, bite, stop suddenly, change direction, fall, step on a person, or react unpredictably. Accidents can occur even where reasonable safety precautions are taken. Possible consequences include minor injuries, serious injuries, fractures, head or spinal injuries, permanent disability and death.

Safety requirements and voluntary participation

I confirm that I must attend the safety briefing, follow staff instructions, wear a helmet, wear appropriate long trousers and closed-toe riding footwear, and comply with age and weight requirements.

I am voluntarily participating, I accept responsibility for my own conduct, and I authorise Saddle Up to seek reasonable emergency medical assistance if I am unable to do so. I remain responsible for my own medical expenses to the extent permitted by law.

Liability

To the extent permitted by applicable South African law, I acknowledge that Saddle Up is not responsible for loss, injury, damage or death arising from an inherent risk of horse riding, or from my own acts or omissions. Nothing in this document excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.
